LIGHTS UP: New Christmas song ‘captures the essence of Pinner village’

“Pinner, Pinner, Pinner, at this time of year it’s the great place to go” is the joyful chorus of a new Christmas song created by the Pinner Association.

The melody rang throughout the village as the local community stepped into the sparkle of the festive season.

On Wednesday, November 26, the Mayor of Harrow councillor Anjana Patel turned on the village’s Christmas lights, casting a warm glow over the high street and officially opening this year’s celebrations.

As the lights twinkled to life, pupils from Reddiford School filled the air with beautiful songs, warming hearts and bringing locals together for the countdown to Christmas. The event was proudly funded by the Pinner Association.

A spokesperson told Pinnernews: “This is an important landmark in the Pinner calendar and is something the local community certainly appreciates, which is why the Pinner Association is pleased to fund this every year.”

Alongside the carols sung by local children, the Mayor unveiled the Pinner Association’s very own seasonal song, Christmas in Pinner.

Resident Ed Badke wrote the song and used an AI platform to create the melody. Then, another member of the association team, Christina Fava, created a video about the event, which has reached more than 3,000 views on social media.

Ed told Pinnernews: “We have tried to capture the essence of Pinner in the song and video, so I hope you enjoy it.”

Echoes of St John’s bells, the glow of festive shopfronts, and the gentle charm of the village were all woven into the lyrics.

The song also takes time to reflect on the year gone by, celebrating additions such as the new lake and playground in Pinner Memorial Park.

The magic doesn’t end there, as from Wednesday, December 10, to Friday, December 19, Santa himself will be travelling through the streets of the village, thanks to Pinner Rotary Club.

Volunteers will be collecting donations for the organisation’s supported charities, including the Paul Strickland Scanner Centre and Colne Valley Special Sailors.
