They may have battled exhaustion, injuries and relentless hours on the road, however the Kings Langley and Hemel Hempstead runners are back and ready for their toughest charity challenge yet.
Jayden, Taylor, Louis, and Kavi originally made headlines in August 2024 with the 4x4x48 challenge, which was inspired by Jayden’s grandfather’s cancer diagnosis. While raising over £10,000 for Cancer Research was incredible, it also sparked a determination to push themselves and their community even further each year.
In 2025 they went further, running 96 hours for The Hospice of St Francis, where Jayden’s grandfather received care. Jayden explained: “It started three years ago after my Grandad was diagnosed with cancer. This spurred us to do the first challenge for Cancer Research because I wanted to show my support for him. Now, it’s got to the point where we want to do something for the community.”
The boys were joined by Jackson, Tom and Harrison, and raised £15,000 for the hospice.
Jayden said last year was unforgettable: “We ran past the Paper Mill Pub in Apsley and people were cheering us on. There was an amazing feeling because this whole crowd were cheering and clapping for us to do our run.”
Now, the team is stepping up once again – this time with an even bigger focus.
The boys have launched Project Ascent, a three-year plan of progressively bigger challenges, with the aim of raising even more for charities. This year, the group is fundraising for Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Jayden explained this year’s challenge to KINGSnews: “This is a 72-hour challenge where people can sign up to run as many miles as possible. The name of this challenge is One More Mile to encourage runners to push themselves. We want to make this challenge more accessible for other people. Our last few runs have been difficult, so this is an opportunity for others to join us.”
Interest is growing, with 16 confirmed participants and 40 more interested. The team hopes for 100 runners. The One More Mile challenge will be scheduled for August, with a community base planned for runners and supporters.
