A Shenley resident’s recent charity golf day in St Albans raised more than £1,400 for Cancer Research UK.
The golf day, which took place on April 23 at Verulam Golf Club, is an annual event created by Ben Shaw (pictured central) more than 10 years ago.
The tournament attracted more than 90 players in the past, but this year it was restricted to 54 players due to COVID-19.
Ben, who is an account director at a leading digital marketing agency, was thrilled the turnout. Golfers, local sports and business connections attended this year from across Hertfordshire, Essex and the home counties.
The winners were Jamie Robertson (pictured left), Daniel Querk (pictured right) and the Whipsnade team with 120 points.
Ben said: ““The day was a total success. Thanks go to Verulam Golf Club for the kind use of their facilities and to everyone who supported the event.
“That includes The Promo People, who donated the trophies, Alan Buet, who had given his time and help with scoring and being the rules official, along with Michael Shaw for the photography.
“We have raised over £1,400 for Cancer research which is the main thing. The event will be bigger next year.”
