Plans to build more than 200 additional homes at a completed Radlett development have faced a setback after Hertfordshire County Council objected recently over risks of flooding.
The proposal concerns Harperbury Park, a 206-home development off Harper Lane that was completed in 2019.
The application would see the site expanded, including development on playing fields currently used by St Albans Rangers Football Club. Hertfordshire County Council, as Lead Local Flood Authority, lodged an objection shortly before Christmas.
The authority said the site is at risk of surface water flooding from overland flow paths originating outside the development area and raised concerns about the submitted flood risk assessment.
The application is currently being considered by both Hertsmere Borough Council and St Albans City and District Council, as the site straddles the boundary of the two areas.
Under the proposals, existing sports facilities on the site would be relocated to a different part of the development, and around half of the new homes would be designated as affordable.
