A successful cycle hire scheme is expanding to Rickmansworth, enabling more residents to travel sustainably.
New e-bikes from bike share operator Beryl Bikes will be coming to Rickmansworth, Leavesden and South Oxhey after the success of the pilot scheme in Croxley.
Following agreement by councillors sitting on the General Public Services and Community Engagement Committee on Tuesday, October 14, 36 new e-bikes could be supplied with 13 new bays installed in areas such as near Rickmansworth Aquadrome, Leavesden Country Park and Carpenders Park Station.
The expansion was made in agreement with Three Rivers District Council (TRDC) and Watford Borough Council. Final decisions on how the scheme will be funded are to be determined shortly. If agreed by the council for funding, the scheme could be up and running in spring 2026.
Councillor Stephen Giles-Medhurst OBE, Leader of TRDC, said: “I have always hoped that we could expand the Beryl Bike scheme since it launched in Croxley last year – with it reaching 1,000 rides in just two months. I am delighted to say that the pilot has been a huge hit with residents and soon riders can easily access a Beryl Bike in Leavesden, South Oxhey and Rickmansworth, enabling more and more people to leave their private vehicles and travel sustainably for short journeys.”
