Officers have arrested two men following reports of bank cards being stolen while drivers have been paying for parking in Bushey Heath.
Police have been receiving reports of residents being approached when paying at machines. The suspects are reported to have distracted victims before stealing their bank cards.
At this time, there have been three reports at The Rutts Car Park and on High Road, Bushey Heath.
On Thursday, March 12, two men were arrested by the Hertsmere Neighbourhood Policing Team (HNT) in connection with the reports:
- A 39-year-old man from Dagenham was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to steal and conspiracy to commit fraud.
A 39-year-old man from Barking was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit fraud.
The men have been bailed while further inquiries continue.
PC Luke Hinchcliffe, from the Hertsmere HNT, said: “We hope the news of these arrests provides reassurance to residents. Further inquiries into the incidents are ongoing and we encourage anyone with information to please get in contact with us. If you think you have been the victim of a bank card theft or fraud incident, immediately cancel your bank cards and call 101 to report it.”
