Film set house goes on the market

An Edwardian house in Chorleywood that was recently used as a set in the film Finding Your Feet has gone on sale for £3.75m.

The film starring Imelda Staunton, Celia Imrie, Joanna Lumley and Timothy Spall was released earlier this year and features the house as the home of the toffee-nosed character ‘Lady’ Sandra Abbott and her husband Mike, played by John Sessions.

Bannits House is seen in all its splendour in the opening scene of the film, but the house’s real-life owner Carole Cohen is now selling up so she can downscale.

Carole, a former councillor, was said to be concerned when she was first approached about the film, but when she heard it was a British rom-com about middle aged women, she decided it would be a good idea.

The film focusses on Lady Abbott being forced to go and live with her bohemian sister in an inner-city council estate after she discovers her husband has been having an affair with her best friend.

The home is now up for sale and is being marketed as a ‘substantial Edwardian family home with a self-contained cottage’.
