Hundreds of residents gathered in Croxley for a community event to celebrate Diwali.
The celebrations started at Yorke Mead Primary School on Saturday, October 11, for the Festival of Light, which is more commonly known as Diwali.
Organised by Croxley Green Parish Council (CGPC) attendees enjoyed live cultural performances, craft stalls, henna art and lantern making.
The festivities continued with the Diwali lights switch-on on New Road, transforming the heart of Croxley into a display of colour and light.
The event was free and open to all to ensure as many residents as possible from across the community could share in the joy of Diwali.
His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Hertfordshire, Robert Voss CBE joined the celebrations and officially switched on the lights.
Croxley councillor Cheryl Stungo, who hosted the evening, said: “The energy and joy in the air were incredible. Seeing people of all ages and backgrounds come together to celebrate Diwali here in Croxley is really special.
“It’s a beautiful reminder of the strength of our community.”
A spokesperson for CGPC said: “What a truly wonderful evening celebrating Diwali. A huge thank you to all our performers, stallholders and attendees for making the evening so special. Your enthusiasm and participation lit up the night.
“And a very special thank you to councillors Parikh, Sian and Stungo for bringing such an amazing event to our community — your hard work and dedication made it all possible.”
