‘FANTASTIC YEAR’: Battlers Green Farm in Radlett rounds off a celebratory 2025 with farm festivities

Published on: 28th November 2025   |   By: News Desk   |   Category: Uncategorized

It’s been a wonderful year for the local shopping village Battlers Green Farm in Radlett.

Celebrating 65 years since the Haworth family came down to Hertfordshire from Lancashire to start a new life, the festive spirit is high as they see out 2025 with weekends of community activities and events.

From reindeer visits to live theatre and choir performances, the Haworths believe in the importance of driving a sense of togetherness at their beloved family farm.

Estate manager Andrew Haworth said: “In these times of uncertainty for retail and small business, we think it’s vital to remain a hub for our local community by giving back in new, celebratory ways throughout the year, and what better time to do this than with Farm Festivities at Christmas?

“We’ll also be offering visitors complimentary warm mulled drinks and Farm Shop-made gingerbread during all of our events, perfect for creating an extra bit of seasonal magic for visitors of all ages.”

A further example of community-gathering was through the launch of Moovies on the Farm back in the summer. The five-day outdoor cinema event sold out in its first year, attracting both locals and new visitors to the farm for the very first time.

Andrew added: “We spoke to a number of people that attended Moovies on the Farm and were delighted that the majority of them were first-time visitors to the site, encouraging us that by putting on the right sort of event we will extend our visibility and awareness.”

From sold-out events to award wins, Battlers Green Farm Shop, led by Gillian Haworth, won the Muddy Stilettos Regional Award for Best Farm Shop in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire back in the spring – huge nod to the love and care that goes into creating a wholesome and traditional retail experience that supports and recognises small producers and creators from around the country.

Andrew concluded by saying: “It’s also been a fantastic year for Battlers Green Farm tenant businesses, with our resident butchers, Brimarks, being named Best Butcher/Deli by Watford Observer’s Your Favourite awards. bagels + schmear’s signature Everything Bagel Seasoning is now stocked in Costco, and KOOP Aesthetics & Beauty won a client experience award. We’re so proud of everyone’s achievements this year and can’t wait to see what 2026 brings.”

Through years of creative diversification, highlighted in their Memory Lane exhibition which ran this summer, looking back at the family’s 65-year history at the site, Battlers Green Farm remains a thriving community hub of independent retailers, businesses and services.

The new year will see further exciting developments at the farm, so watch this space!
