The local branch of the Liberal Democrats have chosen their candidate to be the next MP for Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner in a future general election.
Ian Rex-Hawkes has become the parliamentary spokesperson for the area and hopes to beat incumbent David Simmonds MP whenever the next vote is called, with the latest date being December 2024.
Speaking about his selection, Mr Rex-Hawkes said: “I am delighted and excited to have the opportunity to improve the lives of everyone in the UK, both within the constituency and overall.
“I know that I have a significant battle ahead of me based on previous voting results, but I hope that constituents realise that I offer an alternative to the current broken system.”
He’s keen to mark his mark as an MP, with him believing in the nationalisation of water companies, a proportional representation voting system and the scrapping of tuition fees, amongst other items.
Ian currently works as a financial planner with the Irwin Mitchell Asset Management, having been working in the sector since 2008.
Though having previously been a keen martial arts instructor, having reached the level of second-degree black belt in jū jūtsu, this all changed when he broke his back in 2019, and suffered a permanent brain infection the following year.
Nowadays, he enjoys his photography and is trying to learn t’ai chi, whilst still going to the gym as physiotherapy.
