A young author from Little Chalfont has written her first novel, which will be published on Tuesday, March 25.
Lois Miller, 20, who has been working on her fantasy romance novel, Don’t Fear the Fire, since May 2021, spoke to CHALFONTS&GERRARDSCROSSnews.
She said: “I had always wanted to write a book, having loved creative writing/English lessons as a child. With the sudden free time that the global pandemic had granted me, I figured then would be a great time to start.”
The first draft of the book was completed by December 2021, but progress stalled when Lois started her A Levels.
She said: “It was not until almost two years later that I reopened the novel and decided that I really wanted to do something with it. I spent every evening and weekend I had free editing the novel (as I had just started my first nine-to-five job), before I sent it out to various agents and publishers.”
Publisher Cranthorpe Millner took a chance on Lois and together they have worked to design a cover, make final edits to the manuscript, and begin marketing before the release later this month.
Looking forward, Lois said: “My main goal is to eventually become an author full time! I am currently working on a second novel (not a sequel) and hope to publish that soon.
“I hope that one day my writing will have an impact on others, the way some novels did on me and inspired my author career.”
