Residents of Chorleywood and beyond descended on the village’s Common today (Saturday, July 13), all enjoying the various stalls, food and entertainment on offer at this year’s edition of Chorleywood Village Day.
Held on the portion of the Common near the Chorleywood Cricket Club pavilion and adjacent Mission EmployAble cafe, the day was a dry if not always sunny affair, but that didn’t stop the crowds of people from coming to see what was in store.
There were children’s activities organised by local groups such as St Andrew’s Church and Chorleywood Lawn Tennis Club, fairground games, a wide variety of foodstuffs and even a special pig pen where three of the furry friends could be seen being happily brushed and petted by guests, this last feature having been provided by Kew Little Pigs of Amersham.
In the central performance area, various local groups performed music, from rock to brass band numbers, and the regular dog show saw many a canine companion strut their stuff in a bid to win a prize.
There was also time set aside to recognise village pharmacist Hitesh Dodhia and parish councillor Jon Bishop.
The two have been awarded the Freedom of the Parish and Community Champion prizes respectively, having been nominated by many residents for the incredibly hard work they have done for the village over the years.
All in all, it was another successful Village Day, organised by Chorleywood Parish Council, much to everyone’s delight.
