Berkhamsted FC is set to host a charity football match in honour of ex-player Scott Walters who has an incurable illness.

The club who has previously hosted a number of matches for special causes will host the match at Broadwater Stadium on Sunday, September 26.

Scott, aged 46, previously played for Watford, Colchester, St Albans, Hemel, Berko and Leverstock Green and is now suffering from Huntington’s disease which is incurable.

Scott’s wife Monique said they were “overwhelmed” with the generosity of the club for hosting the match and said how much the funds will help to support the family.

The £10 entrance fee from the match will help raise money for Scott’s house to be extended and adapted to make life easier for himself and his young family.

There will also be an auction of memorabilia advertised online in the run up to the game.
