The Royal Mail has apologised after bolting shut a busy post box in Garston.
Residents on Horseshoe Lane were left puzzled after discovering the box sealed up and bolted closed.
Margaret Tucker, who is in a wheelchair and relies on the post box said: “I am unable to travel too far so this is very frustrating.”
Royal Mail Spokeswoman Sally Hopkins said: “The box is temporarily out of service as the door is cracked and cannot be repaired. We are in the process of finding a replacement box and will install it as soon as we can.”
“We apologise to customers for any inconvenience. In the meantime customers can use the alternative boxes on Boundary Way and Kytes Drive.”
