The Watford men’s first water polo team have made it into the final of this season’s Ref’s Cup.
The side progressed after defeating Guildford at Woodside pool last month.
Needing to overturn an 8 goal deficit due to the competitions handicap rules, the team set about the task in earnest winning the 1st quarter 4-0 thanks to a brace from Andy Holt and goals from Hungarian duo Nándor Cseh & Dávid Koncz.
Meanwhile the Saxons, the men’s 2nd team, have started their British Water Polo League campaign. They won both their opening matches at Haberdashers’ Aske’s Boys’ School.
The team now have a three week break before heading off to Ponds Forge Sheffield on the weekend of October 13, where they’ll face British Army & Sheffield Dolphins. One more win & the team will have achieved their first objective of the season and that was to make the top five in the division & make the cut for Phase Two and Championship Four.
The men’s 1st team will begin their campaign this month.
