Chief Executive of Three Rivers District Council, Dr Steven Halls, is retiring after 15 years’ service to the organisation.

Leader of Three Rivers District Council, Cllr Sara Bedford said, “Steven is leaving after a successful Local Government Association Peer Review.

During his time with us he has presided over many successful changes, including the establishment of the CSC and Shared Services, as well as guiding us through dealing with huge cuts in central Government funding.

“I will miss Steven’s wide knowledge and decisive nature. I wish him and his family well and a long and happy retirement.”

Speaking about his time at Three Rivers, Dr Halls said: “It has been a great pleasure and privilege to serve the Council and people of Three Rivers for over fifteen years.

“During my tenure, Three Rivers District Council has become a high-achieving local authority with enviable performance indicators, a more secure financial position based on commercial activity, a highly professional, committed and flexible staff, and a culture that has embraced, or indeed led, innovation.

“I am proud of the fact that we have achieved gender equality at all levels of the organisation and that our ‘Academy’ system of developing Customer Service Centre staff internally has made them able to enhance their careers within the organisation so we are able to internally recruit and retain excellence.

“I am therefore confident these qualities and culture will enable TRDC to meet the challenges of the next few years.”
