Sausage rolls

YouTube star, LadBaby has landed a Christmas number one over the likes of Ariane Grande and Ava Max with his charity single about his love for sausage rolls. 

The charity single which is a cover of Starship’s hit, We Built This City called We Built This City … on Sausage Rolls is in aid of food bank charity, The Trussell Trust.

LadBaby – real name Mark Hoyle – has thanked everyone in the UK that has voted for the single in an interview with the BBC.

“Thank you everybody in the UK who has got a sausage roll to the top,” the Hemel Hempstead man said.  

“The public support has been absolutely unbelievable. It’s mind-blowing, it really is – it’s amazing.” 

The single beat second place by 18,500 sales as the chart topper reached an amazing 75,000 copies in combined sales.

The charity single, which is in aid of The Trussell Trust, is aimed at tackling the issue of 14 million people in the UK living below the poverty line.

It was outlined in the music video, which included the 31 year-old, his wife Roxanne and his two sons, that 100 per cent of all LadBaby’s songs profits from every download will be going towards the food bank network.

When talking to the BBC, Mark outlined that the song was initially made to make everyone laugh but soon became serious with the response that he got. 

In an interview on This Morning, Mark said the issue of poverty in the UK and the real reason behind the making of the parody hit.

He said: “Me and my wife a couple years ago when we first had kids came very close to needing a food bank, so it made sense to us.

He added: “We are so pleased to have raised the money and awareness to those guys.”

2018 was a good year for the dad of two as he was also named 2018 Celebrity Dad of the year.

Building on from his 2018 success, Mark revealed that he was planning to focus on his blogging career instead of making more music.

He joked: “I don’t think anyone needs to hear any more of my singing voice but you never know.”
