Following an increase in burglaries in Hertsmere, officers from the Bushey Safer Neighbourhood Team have been carrying out proactive ANPR operations. On June 23, PCs and PCSOs stopped a large amount of vehicles some of which were suspected of being involved in crime including burglaries, and drugs. One such stop resulted in a 20 year old man from Watford being arrested for possession with intent to supply after a large amount of drugs were seized. Sergeant Noel Buckley from Hertsmere Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “In response to a recent number of burglaries, we’re proactively targeting roads used by criminal gangs such as the A41 and M1 to intercept vehicles and people who are looking to commit crime in Hertsmere,” he warned. “These Operations will continue and those who seek to commit crime in the area will be dealt with robustly” The operation follows an increase in burglaries within Hertsmere and officers and PCSOs have been targeting the A41 Corridor between Bushey and Watford intercepting vehicle potentially being used to commit crime in the area.
