A group of artists who are based in Bushey are holding an exhibition in Stanmore later this month. The Frobisher Printmakers have been working together for seven years at the Frobisher Art Studio which is situated behind the Bushey Museum where they have use of a Harry F Rochat printing press. Jill Confavreux, Mary Galvin, Jean Lowton and Joy Thomson use both intaglio and relief methods of lino cuts etchings, collagraphs and monoprinting in their work. Most of the prints on show will have been made during last year and will be for sale. Jill Confavreux presents mixed media contemporary prints in etching and collagraphs. She often incorporates birds and animals in her lineouts and etchings and has recently been greatly influenced by images in Italian frescoes. Jean Lowton’s linocuts, collagraphs and monoprints are inspired by places, flora and fauna of the English countryside. Joy Thompson is interested in the world around her. The work is very personal to her and is inspired by a time and place. Her love of colour and texture is shown in her prints. The exhibition is being held at Stanmore Library, Stanmore Hill from November 18 until December 2. Opening times vary but the exhibition gets underway at 9.30am on Monday to Friday and from 9am on Saturday. Meet the artists on November 25 from 12pm to 4pm.
