Kings Langley High Street was closed yesterday afternoon due to a motorcyclist and pedestrian collision. The incident between the two happened at 12.44 and the scene was cordoned off for about four hours to allow the specialist crash unit to investigate further. Hertfordshire Constabulary said the pedestrian was described as an “elderly woman” and no further details have been released. The woman was originally taken to Watford General Hospital before being taken to a London based hospital by ambulance following “serious head injuries.” Charmain Dellow Meghjee, of Sarratt Office Supplies, said: “The woman just stepped out; I didn’t see her so the motorbike rider couldn’t have. The motorbike hit her and then he crashed into a parked car. He slowed down once he hit her but I don’t think he was going particularly fast before. She was conscious and wanted to move but a nurse from nearby stopped her. There was a support police officer nearby who helped divert traffic. The paramedics arrived quickly and took both the motorbike driver and lady to hospital in ambulances. “ Another eyewitness, James Sanders, from Fred and Ginger Coffee, added: “The lady stepped out between two parked cars and then was knocked over by a motorcyclist. “Someone passing by called the ambulance and then traffic was diverted around the High Street. I finished my shift over three hours after it happened and the road was still cordoned off and I still saw the motorbike lying on the ground.” The owner of the Shanti Art Gallery also added: “The police were on the scene extremely quickly as well as the paramedics. It was basically the end of business for the day as cars were diverted around Langley Hill and no buses were allowed through the village.” The motorcyclist was also slightly injured in the accident and the bike was recovered. The road has now been re-opened. Anyone with any information in relation to this incident is asked to contact PC Helen Carpenter via Hertfordshire Constabulary’s non-emergency number 101, quoting reference ISR 323 of July 31.
