Rocking Show is a Sell Out

My Ruislip News recently caught up with the Ruislip Lions Club to see what they were up to. Lynne Kauffman, president of the club, said: “This year as a club we decided to ring the changes; we wanted a fast moving variety show, matinee and evening performance, Santa sack as a children’s raffle, a shoe box raffle for the adults and a terrific tree kindly sponsored by Premier Plants. “Then enter Jam 2000 our wonderful local Performing Arts Studio, led by Judy McPhee their dynamic director, to make it all happen – dreams did come true. “Two fantastic sponsors and the expert support from a professional company TGS Sound and Light plus the Hillingdon Theatres team enabled the Lions Concert Committee working with the amazing JAM2000 Performing Arts team to transform Winston Churchill Theatre into a magical space with lighting and sound to captivate the audience. “This year our director Judy’s creative energy, fashioned show stopping experiences throughout the two hours as the show moved swiftly from song- to dance –to opera- to gymnastics-to pop songs- to a fabulous impressionist who brought Elvis to life in Ruislip and topped off by Santa making a visit. “Rory was on call for selfies, a must at interval time – a huge thank you to Rory and the mischievous elf that accompanied him. These events only succeed where the team with their special skills pull together. As people left the theatre quotes like “the best show I have seen in the 40 years I have been coming to these”, “wow what performers – I feel so Christmassy now”, “thanks for a fabulous show” – just what we wanted to hear. “So it seems to ring the changes really works especially if you have the sparkling local talent that The Windmill Studio attracts plus the energy of a dynamic director (known locally as the pocket rocket) to put on an a stunning show. “A huge thank you from all of us at Ruislip Lions to the sponsors, TGS Sound and Light, and most of all Judy and The Windmill Studio team’s JAM2000 stars. “Finally we are nothing without an audience this year you participated with gusto. Your support enables us to carry on with the local charity work that is encapsulated in our motto, ordinary people doing extraordinary things’.”
