The promoters of the Watford Riverwell regeneration project – Watford Borough Council and Kier Property – are hoping that many Watford residents will attend community exhibitions over the weekend and next week which will give people the chance to review the latest plans and talk to the team about the progress being made. Invitations were last week circulated inviting residents to the events which are open to all and which take place between: 10am-2pm, Saturday 8 July 4pm-8pm, Tuesday 11 July At the Captain’s Suite, Watford Football Club, Vicarage Road, Watford Following the start of the extensive clean-up of the former industrial land and the opening of the new road to Watford Hospital (Thomas Sawyer Way), the project is now ready to start delivering much needed homes and jobs. Several important improvements are being made to the evolving plan to ensure that it delivers a high quality, attractive new neighbourhood for Watford. Considerable thought has been given to how all the elements of the scheme work together including the open space, which will link different parts of the scheme and how key building will create a real sense of community and place. The Riverwell team also intends to introduce flexible development zones. These will allow the hospital development to happen in various locations dependent on the plans of West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust. Pip Prongué, Managing Director of Kier Property (South) and a member of the Partnership Board that is promoting Watford Riverwell project said: “Fantastic progress is now being made on delivering Watford Riverwell. Following the opening of the road to the Hospital and the start of the clean up, the team are now ready to create a new community and area for all of Watford to enjoy. Trade City which will create 180 local jobs will open in the summer and we will be starting to build the first homes later this year. “We do hope that local people will come along to the exhibition and let us have their thoughts and feedback. The key to the success of Watford Riverwell is the community. We are committed to actively engaging with the community to ensure Watford Riverwell delivers positive change. Local residents and businesses have been informed every step of the way as our plans develop and we will keep it that way.” Those unable to attend the exhibition will be able to comment online on a new website www.riverwell-regeneration.com which has been established to keep residents updated about the project.
