Published on: 14th December 2017   |   By: The Newsdesk   |   Category: Uncategorized

Oliver Dowden, Member of Parliament, is used to answering questions in the House of Commons, but on Friday he was put through his paces by the pupils of Shenley Primary’s ‘School Parliament’. The Parliament was made up of two representatives from each year, with each pupil taking on a different responsibility including, Prime Minister, Education Secretary, Heath Secretary and Transport Secretary. The question time came during a visit to Shenley Primary by Mr Dowden and speaking afterwards he said: ‘It was a real pleasure to come along to Shenley Primary on Friday and meet with the members of the School Parliament. ‘They asked very interesting questions about my work as an MP, how our government works and what it’s like meeting the Queen. ‘I also enjoyed the chance to hear about their own plans to improve their school, including raising money to rebuild their climbing frame and putting up direction signs around the school to help visitors like me find their way. ‘Thank you to all the pupils and staff from the School for their wonderful hospitality and I look forward to seeing them on their visit to Westminster next year.’
