The chief executive of Watford’s Peace Hospice Care is to step down later this year. David Ellis, chairman to the Board of Trustees, paid tribute to Sue Plummer after she announced her resignation yesterday (Tuesday February 10). She will leave in June to become chief executive of Garden House Hospice in Letchworth. Mr Ellis said Sue will be missed. He commented: “Sue has made a massive and lasting contribution to Peace Hospice Care having managed to extend and improve our services for our patients and their families in the face of huge financial pressures faced by limited statutory funding and the effects of the recession. Sue has been instrumental in growing our services, ensuring that even more patients and their families and carers have been helped by Peace Hospice Care across South West Herts. “Sue’s strong leadership together with her total commitment and dedication to Peace Hospice Care has been an inspiration and has moved the Hospice forward significantly during the eight years she has been with us. “We are very grateful to Sue for playing such a key role in maintaining and extending the range of patient services and also for securing continued funding for many parts of the Hospice’s, including the Hospice at Home service. Sue has also been a driving force in building solid partnerships with the CCG and other local healthcare providers.” During her time as chief executive, Sue oversaw a number of key achievements including the opening of the new Starlight Centre and the refurbishment of the Inpatient Unit. Mr Ellis said the Board is very grateful to Sue. He commented: “We respect that Sue feels this a good time for her to move to a new post with the fresh responsibilities that role will bring and one that is much closer to where she lives. The Board wishes Sue every success in her next post and in her future career.” Would you like to pay tribute to Sue? Email tim@mynewsmag.co.uk
