New nursery opens in Rickmansworth

A new nursery opened in Rickmansworth earlier this month after two years of petitions and opposition against it.

Boys and Girls Nursery, based at Greville House on Chorleywood Close, is run by husband and wife team, Jon and Natasha Kirby, and Natasha told My News Magazines she was delighted that they could finally open their doors. She said: “It has been nothing but a nightmare since June 2012. We have had planning rejected and the building was derelict for a year but we finally got the go ahead in November 2013 and we couldn’t have done it without Mulleady Construction who have transformed the premises. “It has just been a long really drawn out process as we had petitions against us as well from neighbouring companies but we are just so happy to have got through all that and be here today.” The nursery opened on October 4 from 10am to 3pm and Peppa Pig turned up to provide the children’s entertainment. On October 6, the nursery became fully operational and welcomed children from three months to pre-school age. Natasha added: “This is our fourth nursery after our Croxley Green, Watford and Stanmore nurseries and after Stanmore it is our second biggest. “We have had 16 staff who have been training with us for a while who include a chef and a nutritionist who provide the freshest and healthiest food available to the children. “Dishes include salmon couscous and Moroccan lamb and this gives the children the nutrition they need and our menu varies throughout the week. “We also have two handymen on site who help keep the nursery and the surroundings in tip-top shape. “We have 100 children split over the four ages we take care of; 12 babies, 24 pre-toddlers, 28 toddlers and 36 pre-schoolers. “I am just so grateful to everyone who has helped us make this possible over the last two years as we move into new and exciting times.”
