New chairman looks ahead with excitement as village festival nears

The new chairman of the Radlett Festival committee, Paul Howard, has spoken to My Radlett and Shenley News ahead of this year’s big event. He said: “After a pause last year I am delighted as the new Chairman of the Radlett Festival committee and invite everyone to our 11th annual Radlett Festival Fayre on Sunday, June 26 from 11am to 5pm at the Phillimore Recreation Ground, Gills Hill, Radlett WD7 8JJ. “We would like to thank everyone for supporting us by coming along each year with your families and friends, spending a wonderful day together and bringing the community closer together. “The festival will be opened formally by Oliver Dowden MP and then less formally by Elsa, Anna and Olaf from Disney’s Frozen “The theme this year is the circus. We have roaming circus acts and a magician entertaining the crowds. We also have a circus workshop for everyone to learn some circus skills with the professionals. “This year’s dog show for you to enter your dog to in prizes is run by Chirag Patel from Domesticated Manners. “The stage this year is run by Chris Baker and performing will be the Radlett Light Opera Society (RLOS), Katie and Juan, Nick Stephenson, The Maiden, our local star John Beeson and rising local star Sarah Lappert on the stage throughout the day. “Our compere this year is the wonderful Jilly Johnson who will also help judge the Dog Show. Radio Verulam 92.6FM will be broadcasting live from the Fair as well. A lot of people work very hard on a voluntary basis to make this event possible and I should especially like to thank the hard working members of the new Festival Committee who have joined me and Clive Glover this year and have given a lot of their own time to make sure you all have a fabulous day. “Thanks must also go to the team from Bhaktivedanta Manor for their help with the loan of equipment and manpower, the whole team at Aitchisons, Aldenham Parish Council staff and all the other individuals who help on the day. Please thank them all if you see them on the day and show them how much you care. “We look forward to seeing you all at Phillimore on Sunday 26 June from 11am.”
