Mayor of Harrow, Cllr Ajay Maru celebrated Diwali with residents in Harrow and at various temples in Harrow and London in the past week.
He attended the London Kalibari’s Diwali celebration last Thursday followed by Brahma Kumaris’ Diwali celebration. He then joined more than 15,000 worshippers and His Grace Srutidharma Das on Sunday at Bhaktivedanta Manor Hare Krishna Temple, celebrating the Hindu festival which included a tour of the manor and fireworks to end the celebrations. Diwali – the festival of lights – celebrates the victory of good over evil, light over darkness and knowledge over ignorance. Mayor of Harrow, Cllr Ajay Maru said: “Diwali is a special event in the Hindu Calender and I hope that everyone who celebrated had a great time. I was delighted to be invited to many Diwali festivities where I celebrated Diwali with many local residents and other worshippers, the celebrations were truly incredible.”
