TV presenter Richard Osman made his Twitter followers chuckle after revealing that online advertising algorithms incorrectly think he lives in Ruislip.
The 49-year-old, who hosts quiz show Pointless, sarcastically tweeted that the algorithm knows him ‘so well’ because it keeps giving him adverts for Ruislip residents, despite the fact he lives nowhere near.
Osman took screenshots of two suggested stories, tailored to him by the algorithm – the first headline read: ‘Actual Costs of A Stairlift Could Surprise You,’ which was followed by: ‘The Current Cost to Rent a Private Jet near Ruislip Might Surprise You!’
Google ads have always assumed I live in Ruislip for some reason. Never have, but it feels too late to correct them now.
