A local man was sentenced to five years and four months following a string of knifepoint robberies in Harrow, including one in Stanmore. Jamie Subryan, 35, of no fixed abode was sentenced at Harrow Crown Court on Wednesday, November 11 for three counts of robbery and three counts of having a blade sharply pointed in public place. He will also serve an extension period of three years. Subryan had previously pleaded guilty on Wednesday, November 4. On Saturday, September 5 at 5.40am, a 23-year-old man was waiting at the bus stop in Brockhurst Corner when a blue Vauxhall Corsa pulled up alongside him. Subryan got out the passenger side and threatened the man with a knife asking for money and his phone. The man gave Subryan his property and he got back in the car and drove off. The victim was able to make note of the vehicle registration. Checks were carried out on the vehicle used in the robbery and Subryan was listed as the registered keeper. Enquiries were carried out to trace him and a warrant was issued for his arrest. During the day the vehicle was seen parked up in Wealdstone. Officers seized the vehicle and it was sent for forensic analysis. On Sunday, September 6 at 1.55am, a 21-year-old man was sitting in his car in Cecil Road when Subryan walked passed. He walked back to the man’s car and asked if he had a problem with him. Subryan attempts to grab the car keys from the ignition. He then pulled out a knife and threatened the man with it. Subryan took the man’s wallet and walked off. Another incident on that day at 4.45am occurred when a 24-year-old man was walking to the bus stop in Wellington Road when he saw Subryan walking on the other side of the road. Subryan crossed over and approached the man. He threatened him with a knife and demanded money. The man gave Subryan his phone, oyster card and a packet of cigarettes. Subryan told the man to look away while he walked off. On Tuesday, September 15, Subryan handed himself in at a police station and was arrested on suspicion of robbery and having a blade in a public place. He was charged later that day and pleaded guilty at court. Detective constable Matthew Beavis said: “These robberies were a terrifying ordeal for the victims. I hope they find some reassurance in knowing that this man is now in prison serving a lengthy term in jail. I hope this investigation demonstrates that the police will do everything we can to catch those who commit violent crimes and put them before the courts.”
