A Borehamwood-based producer and director is to stage his first West End show later this month.

From Stage & Screen … and back again! features rising musical theatre stars Charlotte de Paeztron, Eleanor Sandars,  Denise Medley-Scott, Rob Eyles and Danny Lane, all of who were discovered by New Talent Spotlight, set up by Russell Scott in 2009.

The show celebrates the music and lyrics of some of the greatest stage and screen writers and also features a live band and The West End Gospel Choir.

Russell told My Borehamwood & Elstree News he set up New Talent Spotlight with a view to finding, developing and giving opportunity to emerging professional talent.

In 2010, the group received the first standing ovation for its show, An Evening of Bricusse and Wildhorn, performed at Pizza on the Park in London, the venue had seen for over two years.

Russell added: “Since then, I have written and produced five more shows. Our last show was An Evening of Tim Rice, which Tim Rice supported and attended. Each show has sold out and received public acclaim.”

Rehearsals are well underway for the show which is on September 23 at the Leicester Square Theatre. Russell said the production, which is raising money for the Royal Hospital for Neuro- disability, is the biggest production New Talent Spotlight have produced to date.

Russell has won support from Radlett based HOB salons who will be doing the hair for the production. They are also screening New Talent Spotlight showreels. Mac Cosmetics are sponsoring the makeup.

He said: “The show will feature songs from 30 different musicals including Dirty Dancing, Fame, Evita and The Phantom of the Opera. We’re doing everybody’s favourites and telling a great story at the same time.”
