Watford’s rise up the Premier League table continued with an impressive 2-0 Halloween home victory against high flying West Ham United. The victory was the Hornets second win in a row and owed much to the leathal finishing of Odion Ighalo who scored twice in a performance that will give the Hammers nightmares for some time to come Ighalo turned home the opener after Nathan Ake robbed a hesitant Andy Carroll in defence and crossed low for the clinical Nigerian. The lead was doubled just after the break when Ighalo scored his seventh goal of the season after a neat cut back from Scotland international Ikechi Anya. Watford’s task was made easier when the visitors were reduced to 10 men as James Collins saw red for a foul on Ighalo who frightened West Ham United all afternoon. The Hornets thoroughly deserved the points, but this Hammers performance was a world away from their victories at Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea. The Golden Boys face another of the league’s early high flyers next week when they travel to Leicester City.
