People in Abbots Langley are being invited to attend Abbots Apple Fest on September 23. The event takes place on School Mead from 11am to 4pm and is organised by Hillside Residents Association, Sunnyside Rural Trust, Watford Community Housing Trust and Abbots in Transition Part of the fun of the Apple Fest is the activities beforehand: Join the Apple Treasure Hunt – from Saturday 2nd September to Saturday 16th September, a free activity, for children attending Infant/Junior school. There are 3 school year categories: Years 1 & 2; Years 3 & 4; Years 5 & 6; with a prize for each category. Entry Forms can be collected from either Over the Moon or Abbots Langley Library. Find the Apples in the listed shops answer the question on the label and complete the Entry Form. Completed Entries must be returned to Over the Moon or the Library by Monday 18th September. The Winning Draws will be made from the correct entries at the Abbots Apple Fest on Saturday 23rd September. Look out for the Scarecrows around the village. Made by local schools. You will see them displayed in the windows of businesses around the village. Why not make your own Scarecrow? Put it in your front garden to support the Apple Fest. Colour an Apple at the Library and see it displayed on the tree, from Monday 4th September to Saturday 30th. Abbots Apple Fest supports local enterprises, community groups and charities. Its intention is to foster sustainability, reduce the local carbon footprint and raise awareness of foodstuffs available locally.
