The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, visited Watford Town centre on Saturday (May 2) to support Watford’s parliamentary candidate Richard Harrington with his campaign. Mr Johnson visited the town centre ahead of the general election on May 7, and praised Mr Harrington for all he has achieved in Watford. Mr Johnson said: “It’s great to be here supporting Richard; he’s done a fantastic job in the area. “One thing he and I worked on very closely on was the metropolitan line extension. I had to put a lot of London’s money into the Croxley rail link.” Mr Harrington added: “The reason it has taken play is because of Boris’ support and Transport for London links.” Boris, who is running for MP in Uxbridge and South Ruislip, hopes to see Watford retain their conservative seat. Boris added: “Two million more jobs, three million more apprenticeships, tax cuts for everyone, tax cuts for people on low incomes. We need to keep Britain strong, keep the economy strong and keep Watford strong. “I’m proud of what Richard has done.” The town was buzzing with Watford FC fans ahead of their game against Sheffield Wednesday, passers-by cheered on Mr Johnson and stopped to take pictures.
