Attempted break in leaves garage owners angry

Published on: 20th October 2017   |   By: The Newsdesk   |   Category:

A car garage owner in Shenley was left furious after vandals attempted to break into the garage he owns. Peter Harrington, who runs Harrington Car Sales, on London Road, turned up to work on October 2 and noticed a footprint on the front door of the sales office. However, after further investigations he realised the door had been broken. Peter then checked his CCTV immediately to see a group of balaclava-clad hooligans wreaking havoc on his property. Peter told My Radlett & Shenley News that he hadn’t encountered anything like this before in his 18 years of running the business. He said: “This is the first time I have seen anything like this. The people responsible were on site for about seven minutes acting like vandals. “I contacted the police when I saw what had happened and their response was very good. They were here within the hour and forensics then showed up. “Fortunately there was only damage to the door and apart from trying to kick the door down, they were wandering round outside.” Peter explained: “The people who did this haven’t won. It hasn’t caused me any inconvenience, just annoyance. The damage they caused to the showroom wasn’t much but they must have made a lot of noise.” The incident took place at about 5.15am and if anyone has any details, please contact the police on 101.
